April rains

It is blasphemous not to enjoy good weather. Period.

The weather for the past few days has been salubrious. Just like that of hills. Chill inducing breeze, intermittent thunder and rains. And I love this weather. This kind of weather makes me feel happy. I make it a point that in such weather I go outdoors to play or walk just to enjoy the weather. Ofcourse when it is not raining as I dont like rains much.  April rains. There is a beautiful Korean movie named April Snow. Why do I tell you that? No particular reason. It just came to my mind when I typed April rains.

And when it rained, what did I do? Good question. Like yesterday, when it rained, I opened my balcony door to let the cool breeze in, played my favourite play-list on phone, made myself ginger-lemon green tea and savoured on the snacks my mom had sent and read that novel I have been reading. And I watched movies in home. After like 4-5 months.
.
The Intouchables: Its a French movie. This movie was the best thing in my day filled with meaningless internet browsing. Y ou know some movies fill your heart with such warmth that you cant stop smiling in the mention of that movie. Yes it is that kind of movie. The French actor who played the quadplegic is very handsome and so likeable was the main actor. Do watch this movie if get time.

The other movies that I watched was 'The Darjeeling Limited" and "The boy in the Striped Pajamas". The former movie by Wes Anderson was on my to-be-watched list for a long time and finally when I watched it, I was not flattered. The movie is shot in Rajasthan and I was not able to link the Darjeeling limited and the Rajasthan scenery. But for Western audience the name is just to show the link to India. But yes can be watched when you have no better movie to watch. "The boy in the Striped Pajamas" was good and sad like most movies based on Nazi-Jew issue. But must-match.

Oh the joy

Oh the joy when you find a soul who loves the same book/ movie/ place/ moment as much as you do.

So on our way back home with a office friend, the topic moves to the kind of movies we watch.

And she remarked ‘I readlly loved that movie of Milind Somen’.

My eyes sparkled with joy. “Oh the one with the curly-haired girl’.

“Yes-yes. It is my favourite movie. The only Milind Somen movie worth watching. He is looking so delish.”

“Oh how much I loved that movie. That movie has such good songs. Oh God, we spent beautiful college days listening to those songs and dancing away in them”

“All its songs were nice. Even the slower version of few songs.”

“I am unable to recall the name of the movie..But it was so ahead of its time. The narration style, yada yada..”

“Even Tanuja as Dadi was a good cast. Name of the movie ?? hmmm.."

And talking about the movie and humming the songs we parted ways to our homes.

Back home, when I connected my phone to wi-fi, there was a deluge of messages in the Whatsapp group of my college friends. These are the same friends with whom I have spent the joyous years of college hostel. I asked them the name of the Milind Somen movie with the song “Aise Pyaar ke naam”. Why google when you can connect to the friends who have the answer and the nostalgic tit-bit information about things. Same happened and friend A replied “Pyaar ka Superhit Formula” and this is the same song in which you used to dance in our hostel room. Sheesh! Friend M quipped “Rules”. And I got the name of the movie. “Rules-Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula”.

So many happy afternoons and evenings may be nights or mornings have been spent listening to these songs and dancing to its tunes.

I searched the songs on the internet next day and listened to it. To my amazement, I still
remembered almost complete lyrics of two of my favourite songs.

Here is to old time's sake.

Love quotes

The month of February is approaching and the shops have started displaying the Valentine Theme promptly all-over. So let me jump on the bandwagon and share some of my favourite love-quotes from movies:

1) "Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivalgates at the Heathrow Airport. General opinion starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I dont see that. It seems to me that Love is everywhere.Often it is not particularly dignified and newsworthy, but it is always there-fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, old friends. When the plane hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls were messages of hateor revenge- they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I have got a sneaky feeling that love actually is all around."
                                                                                                                                         -Love Actually

2) "The fame thing is not really real you know. And don't forget I 'm also just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."
                                                                                                                                          -Notting Hill

3) "It is good to have a beautiful mind, but an even greater gift is to have a beautiful heart."
                                                                                                                                 -A Beautiful Mind

4) "I have always believed in numbers and the equations and logics that lead to reason. And after a life-time of such pursuits, I ask whattruely is logic? Who decides reason? My question has taken me through the physical to the metaphysical, the delusional and back. And I have the most important discovery of my career, of my life. It is only in the mysterious equations of lovethat all logical reasons can be found."
                                                                                                                                   -A Beautiful Mind
5) "When You Realize You Want To Spend The Rest Of Your Life With Somebody, You Want The Rest Of Your Life To Start As Soon As Possible"
                                                                                                                     - "When Harry Met Sally"

Books & Movies

In my almost 3 decades of my life, of all the movies which are based on novel, these are the only movies which I have not only watched but have also read the novel/ story on which it is based:

1) Kai Po Che  -  3 mistakes of my life

 2)  3 Idiots     - Five Point Someone

3) The remains of the day     - The remains of the Day  (I am definitely going to write a book review of this one.Such a strong novel)

Yes, these are the only incidents when I have got to read the book and watch the movie. I hope that the list continues to grow.

If only...

Dear ZZ,
I would not have declined your so many “chalo, chalet hain naa” requests with one alibi or other
nor would I have dared to rejoice when your attempt to book the show tickets online get unfruitful
nor would I have not succumbed to your reference “We haven’t seen a single movie together(in movie hall)”
if only I knew that you so much wanted to see the “Clashes of the Titans” that you went for the 10:30pm show alone after the 19+hour journey(that included accompanying me to another city and returning back) and 5+hour work in the past 32 hours.
P.s: (Edited to add: I was in the another town when this incident happen)

Random thoughts on marriage n movie

In a next few days i ll be attending a very dear friend's wedding...after that in May there are back-2 back weddings of 2 friends. In the last couple of months, precisely from November onwards, i have attended 2 marriage functions , missed 4 invitations .....It's alwayz been nice to be a part of such a important occasion of life of your friends and it become sheer delight and fun if your other friends would be attending that function too..By 2009 almost all of my friends will be experiencing the marriage bliss.....At times I like this idea of being in a relationship but then i wont hide that committment sometimes scare me a bit.....I think it happens..Grass is always greener at the other side...When single, one wishes to be in relationship and once committed, one dreams of those free days and yearns to go back again...BUT i am sure and hope that all my friends are and will be living the sequel of the stories that end with "Happily thereafter ..."

This weekend got a chance to see the movie "Romancing the Stone "( yeah, yeah the same Michael Douglas one about which there are talks that its sequel will be filmed in India)..I used to swear by the fact that i am a romcom-comedy-reality movies type and action and fantasy films are not my type...But hey, i was there giving a smirk to those witty dialogues of Douglas and gasping in awe at places and grinning ear-to-ear at the funny moments.Meanwhile, my friend commented "He's not that bad yaar...handsome hain" about Douglas...haha, total time-pass stuff and i feel good after seeing the movie..2 hours fully Utilized:)):))
